The Best Anti-Texting and Driving Campaigns
Drive through almost any town in the U.S. today and you will see people texting and driving. Whether they are stopped at a red light or travelling seventy miles an hour down the highway, texting is something many people do, even if they consider it dangerous – and it is dangerous. So many people are dying, killing, or being killed while texting that anti-texting and driving campaigns are common in many countries. Some are clever, others are merely graphic, but they all have one message: Texting and driving kills.
Here are some of the best, most heart wrenching, and clever:
Responsible Young Drivers
Responsible young drivers is an organization in Belgium dedicated to creating responsible young drivers. They had a simple idea to convince young drivers that texting and driving is dangerous: Make it part of their driving test. The result is a video that is amusing and encouraging, as all the young drivers recognized the danger inherent in texting and driving. The video is not in English, but has subtitles.

Volkswagen
Volkswagen created an interactive anti-text and driving message to show in theaters. Using localized mass text messaging, it shows just how distracting answering texts can be in a very realistic and convincing way. It may be one of the most effective anti-texting videos.

Texting and driving is becoming pandemic. At one time most of the talk about the dangers of texting behind the wheel took place in the United States, but recently countries in Europe, Asia and Africa have seen the need for anit-texting while driving campaigns. As deaths from driving while texting increase, getting the message out, especially to younger drivers who text more, is extremely important. It will save lives.
