Outrageous Illegal Car Modifications
The custom car culture has been known to pump out some pretty cool rides. From low riders to murdered out Benzes, from nitrous injected cop cars to turbo’d rice rockets, there’s a modded car to fit every taste. Unfortunately, this includes extremely, extremely bad taste. Some gearheads who’ve lost a marble or three have a tendency to slap on parts that are ill advised, and often against the law. Check out our list of ridiculous, outrageous, and downright illegal car mods below.
1. Many cars that have been stanced
Stancing a car means dropping it as low as it will go, often with wheels that are slightly too big for the tires and cambered inwards to fit under the fenders. If done poorly, this can be very dangerous, with tires rubbing up against the car’s bodywork. If done very poorly, you might just end up like this:
Aside from being ungodly annoying and internet sensation Bubb Rubb (video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9R2hOlVqqek) favorite modification, whistle tips will also net you a hefty fine in the state of California.
3. Obscenely powerful sound systems
In a similar vein to the whistle tips, don’t expect to own one of these without every neighbor within thirty miles filing noise complaints. There are regulations as to how loud your stereo can be, and if you are shattering the windshields of passing commercial airlines, it is a good bet you are exceeding them.
Do we really have to explain this one? If you’ve managed to ram the radial engine from a World War II fighter plane into your hot rod, it just might not be street legal anymore. Pretty sure this one is going to have trouble passing smog.
While it might make your ride look like something out of The Fast and The Furious, neon underglow is guaranteed to attract more cops than members of the opposite sex.
Again, this one is a bit of a no-brainer. A tinted windshield may make you feel like you’re going undercover, but you’re more likely to end up underground when you rocket off a blind embankment because you can’t see out of your own car.
